The tour starts in Piazza Castello in front of the door of the shop where, in 1786, Antonio Benedetto Carpano invented Vermouth. It is from here that we will take you on a journey through time to discover the birth of the ritual of the aperitif, which has its roots in the “marenda sinòira”, the traditional meal of Piedmontese peasants, eaten in the late afternoon and extended until dinnertime, a forerunner of today’s aperitif. A popular culture that was later elevated to aristocratic status and entered the city’s salons.
But this tour is not all talk! You will try the experience of a true Turin aperitif and taste a selection of Vermouth.
The tour lasts 3 hours and starts at 3.00 PM.
